The Hamptons dinner scene covers a wide range, from long-standing neighborhood bistros to formal dining rooms that draw reservations weeks out. Each village on the East End has its own character, and the options vary enough that a single guide rarely covers all of them.

This guide highlights some of the best restaurants in the Hamptons for dinner across Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Southampton, and Sag Harbor, giving visitors a practical starting point for planning dinner on the East End.

Reservations are recommended for most of these, particularly on summer weekends. Several of the restaurants below fill their dining rooms a week or more in advance in July and August.

What dinner looks like on the East End

The ingredients available to East End kitchens are a real advantage. Farms like Balsam Farms and Acabonac are within a few miles of most of these restaurants. Fish from the Montauk boats is available daily through the season. Kitchens that source locally tend to show it on the plate, and that is one of the more reliable ways to judge a menu before you sit down.

The pace of dinner out here is generally unhurried. That is not universal, and the more popular rooms on summer weekends can feel compressed. But most of the restaurants below are built around a longer evening rather than a quick turn.

Bridgehampton Restaurants

Bridgehampton has a concentration of dinner options within a short distance of each other, ranging from casual to formally structured. The village sits close to several of the farms that supply East End restaurants, which shows up in what kitchens here put on the plate.

Nourish

Nourish serves dinner nightly through September 30 just off the main road in Bridgehampton. Chef Dewa Wijaya’s menu draws on local produce and Montauk seafood, with preparations that are lighter and more vegetable-forward than most restaurants in the area. The bar program, led by Takuma Watanabe, runs a serious Japanese whisky and shochu list alongside a focused cocktail menu. Reservations are available through Resy.

Jean-Georges at Topping Rose House

Jean-Georges at Topping Rose House serves dinner daily from the property’s hotel restaurant on Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike. The menu is seasonal and locally sourced, with a more formal presentation than most other options in the village. It is one of the more established fine dining rooms on the East End and books out well in advance on weekends.

Almond

Almond has been in Bridgehampton since 2001. The menu is French bistro in style, with a focus on seasonal ingredients, house-made charcuterie, and a well-priced wine list. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday. It is one of the more relaxed options in the village and tends to draw a mix of locals and summer visitors.

East Hampton Restaurants

East Hampton has a range of dinner options across different price points and styles. The village fills up in July and August, and several of its more established restaurants are harder to get into on weekends than they are during the week.

Nick and Toni’s

Nick and Toni’s has been on North Main Street in East Hampton since 1988. The menu is Italian and Mediterranean, changes seasonally, and comes in part out of a wood-burning oven. The restaurant sources from its own on-site organic garden as well as from local farms. Dinner is served Wednesday through Monday starting at 5:30pm.

Fresno

Fresno is a smaller, neighborhood-style restaurant in East Hampton that has been open for over twenty years. The menu is American, the room is comfortable, and the kitchen stays focused. Dinner is served Tuesday through Monday, closed Wednesdays. It is quieter than some of the more prominent rooms in the village and tends to book with less lead time.

Cittanuova

Cittanuova is an Italian trattoria on Newtown Lane that has been a fixture in East Hampton for two decades. The menu covers pasta, seafood, and seasonal dishes in a room that is livelier than some of the surrounding options. It opens for dinner nightly and draws a consistent local crowd alongside summer visitors.

Southampton Restaurants

Southampton’s dinner scene includes a mix of established Italian restaurants and longer-running local favorites. The village has been catering to summer visitors for over a century, and the better dinner options reflect that experience.

Sant Ambroeus

Sant Ambroeus on Main Street in Southampton is open daily from morning through dinner. The menu is Milanese Italian, with a focus on pasta and seasonal ingredients. The outdoor patio, set back from the street, is one of the more pleasant places to sit on a warm evening. Dinner service runs nightly.

Tutto il Giorno

Tutto il Giorno in Southampton serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 5pm. The menu is southern Italian, built around handmade pasta and local produce. The room is comfortable and the pace is easy. A second location in Sag Harbor is open for dinner as well, Tuesday through Sunday.

Plaza Cafe

Plaza Cafe on Hill Street in Southampton has been open for over thirty years. The kitchen is run by chef Douglas Gulija and focuses on American cuisine with a strong emphasis on local seafood and seasonal produce. The menu changes regularly and the room is quiet by Southampton standards. Dinner is served nightly from 5:30pm.

Sag Harbor Restaurants

Sag Harbor is more compact than the other Hamptons villages and has a year-round local population that keeps several of its restaurants open and honest through the off-season. Dinner here tends to feel a bit quieter than East Hampton on summer weekends.

American Hotel

The American Hotel has been on Main Street in Sag Harbor for decades. The dining room is formal, the wine list is extensive, and the menu covers classic American and French preparations. Lunch and dinner are served daily. Collared shirts are required.

Lulu Kitchen and Bar

Lulu Kitchen and Bar is a year-round bistro on Main Street in Sag Harbor built around a wood-burning grill and oven. The menu is Mediterranean-influenced and changes with the season. Dinner is served nightly from 5:30pm. The room has a casual, relaxed feel and tends to be easier to get into than some of the more reservation-heavy spots on the East End.

Dopo la Spiaggia

Dopo la Spiaggia is an Italian restaurant on Bay Street across from the Sag Harbor waterfront. The menu covers pasta, seafood, and grilled meats. Dinner is served Thursday through Monday. The outdoor patio has views of the marina and is popular on summer evenings.

Planning dinner in the Hamptons

Summer reservations in the Hamptons often fill several days in advance, particularly in Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Sag Harbor. If you’re visiting on a weekend, it’s worth booking dinner before you arrive.

For visitors exploring multiple villages during their stay, Bridgehampton is often a convenient stop thanks to its location between Southampton, Sag Harbor, East Hampton, and Amagansett. Wherever you choose to dine, planning ahead can make it easier to secure your preferred reservation time during the busiest weeks of the season.

Visiting Nourish

Nourish is located at 203 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton, NY. Dinner is served nightly through September 30.

Reservations are recommended, particularly for outdoor garden seating on summer weekends. Bookings are available through Resy or by calling (631) 600-8852.
