The 2026 U.S. Open returns to Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, with practice rounds June 15-17 and championship rounds June 18-21. The tournament brings a significant volume of visitors to the East End for the week, and dinner reservations in the surrounding villages fill up accordingly.

This guide covers a range of dinner options within a short drive of the course, across Southampton, Bridgehampton, and nearby villages, for visitors planning meals around a day at the Open.

Reservations are strongly recommended for the full week. Several of the restaurants below will be operating at or near capacity, and walk-in availability during Open week should not be assumed.

Getting to and from the Course

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is located at 200 Tuckahoe Road in Southampton. The USGA has said the most reliable way to reach the course during the tournament is the Long Island Rail Road, which adds extra service for the week and drops passengers at a temporary platform across from the course.

For visitors coming from the east, including Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Amagansett, the USGA’s fan guide directs drivers to a shuttle lot at the Hampton Classic Horse Show grounds in Bridgehampton rather than driving directly to the course. The drive from Bridgehampton to Shinnecock is normally around 20 minutes, but Open week brings heavy traffic on NY-27 and Montauk Highway, and that estimate should not be relied on during tournament days.

Southampton Restaurants

Southampton Village is the closest dinner option to the course itself, a short drive or rideshare from the venue depending on traffic.

The Plaza Cafe

The Plaza Cafe on Hill Street has been open for over thirty years. The kitchen, run by chef Douglas Gulija, focuses on American cuisine with an emphasis on local seafood and seasonal produce. Dinner is served nightly from 5:30pm. The room is quieter than some of Southampton’s more prominent spots, which may be an advantage during a busy tournament week.

Sant Ambroeus

Sant Ambroeus on Main Street is open daily from morning through dinner, with a Milanese Italian menu built around pasta and seasonal ingredients. The outdoor patio is a pleasant option on a summer evening, and dinner service runs nightly.

Dopo Argento

Dopo Argento on Main Street combines an Italian and modern Mediterranean menu with a cocktail bar, and offers both an indoor dining room and outdoor patio seating. It tends to draw a lively crowd, which can be a plus or a minus depending on what kind of evening a guest wants after a day at the course.

Bridgehampton Restaurants

Bridgehampton sits a short drive east of Southampton and is also the location of the Hampton Classic shuttle lot the USGA has designated for Open week traffic from the east.

Nourish

Nourish, at The Roundtree on Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, serves dinner nightly in June. Chef Dewa Wijaya’s menu draws on local produce from farms including Balsam Farms and Acabonac, along with Montauk seafood, in preparations that lean lighter and more vegetable-forward than much of the area. Reservations are available through Resy.

Jean-Georges at Topping Rose House

Jean-Georges at Topping Rose House serves dinner daily from the hotel’s restaurant, also on Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike. The menu is seasonal and locally sourced, with a more formal presentation, and it is one of the area’s better-known fine dining rooms. It typically books well in advance on summer weekends, and Open week is likely to be no exception.

Almond

Almond has been a Bridgehampton fixture since 2001, serving a French bistro menu with house-made charcuterie and a well-priced wine list. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday. It tends to be a more relaxed option than some of the village’s higher-profile rooms.

Sag Harbor and Water Mill Restaurants

Sag Harbor and Water Mill sit further east, roughly 30 to 40 minutes from the course depending on traffic, but both have a concentration of dinner options that draw visitors throughout the summer and may be worth considering for guests staying in those areas.

Lulu Kitchen and Bar

Lulu Kitchen and Bar on Main Street in Sag Harbor is built around a wood-burning grill and oven, with a Mediterranean-influenced menu that changes seasonally. Dinner is served nightly from 5:30pm, and the room has a casual, relaxed feel.

Tutto il Giorno

Tutto il Giorno has locations in both Southampton and Sag Harbor, serving a southern Italian menu built around handmade pasta and local produce. The Sag Harbor location serves dinner Tuesday through Sunday.

Calissa

Calissa in Water Mill is a Mediterranean restaurant with a large outdoor patio, known for its branzino and lobster pasta. It tends to draw a lively crowd, particularly on weekends, and reservations are recommended well ahead.

A Note on Booking This Week

Given the volume of visitors expected for the Open, reservations across Southampton and Bridgehampton should be made as early as possible, ideally before arriving on the East End. Some restaurants may also adjust hours or capacity for the week; calling ahead to confirm is worthwhile even with a confirmed reservation.

For visitors staying closer to the course, Southampton offers the shortest trip back after dinner. For those staying further east, Bridgehampton is a reasonable middle point with its own concentration of options, and Sag Harbor or Water Mill may suit visitors who are spending the rest of their stay further from Southampton.
